Depends. : If it's very swollen and bruised, or if it isn't straight, you may have broken a bone or dislocated a joint. Urgent care might x-ray the toe to check, and can usually pop a small dislocation back into alignment. They'll teach you how to buddy-tape it to the next toe while it heals, and will give you pain medication.
