How fresh?: Generally speaking, a dislocated elbow, if it is reduced, need to be immobilized three weeks then begin rom.. This is to diminish the chance of redislocation. If all is stable after three wks, then acive only range of motion should be done. That is, what your muscles can do to move the joint back and forth. It is common to loose motion permeantly. Good luck. See an occupational therapist.
