A member asked:

Can tb or bronchitis have an effect on a fetus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Which one?: Routine bronchitis, which is mostly caused by respiratory viruses does not harm the fetus, unless it would cause a severe enough drop in the mother's oxygen level, which is not likely. While TB can cause cough, that is where the comparison to bronchitis ends. Tb can damage or invade many organs besides the lungs and blood spread is known to occur, so it is plausible that it could effect fetus.
