Skin line disruption: Along with the other answers, there is noticible disruption of the normal skin lines of the feet when encountering a wart. Callouses will have skin lines running through them, but warts will have a "stop-and-start" ditsribution to the skin lines.

See a doctor.: Your doctor can shave the callus off the top of the lesion and determine whether it is a callus with a core, or an actual wart. Treatments for each can differ slightly, so find out which you have before you try to treat it with over-the-counter removal pads!
