Like an x-ray: It's like a simple x-ray - you lie in a small, partially enclosed space while the exam is performed. Sorry, i don't have pics or video for this one!

DXA: Dxa = dual energy x-ray absorptiometry. There are various units which can be used to measure bone density (for example heel units). The most common and probably most accurate is the test performed on a table. You are in the supine position on a table and a technologist will position you to acquire a low dose x-ray of various locations. Usually spine, hip, and radius regions are performed.
