Withdrawal: Yes, it is probably safe to do this, but if you become symptomatic, go back and stay on somewhat longer. Abrupt or rapid withdrawal from Clonazepam can result in withdrawal symptoms that can be life-threatening. All benzodiazepines, including Clonazepam can do this.

Probably : In my experience, rivotril (clonazepam) can usually be tapered fairly quickly due to its rather long half life. 12 mg per day, however, was a high dose; so stopping it suddenly could have led to a seizure. Chances are good that two weeks on 6 mg daily will now allow for further problem-free decrease but would discuss with your doctor prior to changing the schedule you've been given for tapering it.
