It varies: Many women will not have a regular cycle during the month following a miscarriage but others may bleed a few weeks later. It is usually advisable to wait until after 1 or 2 normal cycles before you attempt pregnancy again.

Common: When younger people start having their periods it is not uncommon for them to have very irregular cycles for the first year or two. If your bleeding is very heavy you should make sure you are not anemic. Within about a year or two though your cycles should become more regular. Stay active and eat right.

Preg vs no egg : If you are not pregnant, it may be a sign you didn't produce an egg that month. Usually when the menstrual cycle is not regular, ovulation is not occurring regularly. When ovulation occurs, the period will happen 14 days later predictably. When ovulation does not occur, the period happens unpredictably when the lining outgrows its blood supply or becomes unstable.

Ok: Not sure how old, but 24 day cycle is ok, as long as the period is no too long or too heavy.

Can vary: The 28-day cycle does not apply to everyone every month. Some cycles can be shorter than others. What a woman might do is keep a record of the day each period begins and share that with her women's health provider if repeatedly abnormal cycle length. If she is trying to conceive, her data can be very helpful to a physician.
