Cramping: In general most women have some cramping off and on early in pregnancy. The majority of miscarriage occur under 12 weeks. Your uterus is enlarging and moving out of your pelvis into your abdomen. In addition sex will cause cramping for a couple days afterwards and sometimes light spotting. If the pain is severe and one sided be concerned.

Yes: A little cramping is normal. It's normal to have cramps about as bad as normal menstrual cramps. You should not have bad cramps. If you do, you could have something serious going on - an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage in progress. Generally the "danger zone" is up to 12 weeks. Miscarriages can occur after that, but they are much less common.
