Same but more: Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (eswl) is used to break up stones which are stuck somewhere, whether it be the kidney or the bile duct or elsewhere. Risks include bleeding, damage to the surrounding tissue/organ, and when coupled with other procedures, generally mean a more difficult procedure.
