Religious practices.: Many religions & cultures look on menstruating women as impure. Judaism, islam, orthodox & dharmic religions have traditionally held policies regarding women during menstruation. Women are often forbidden entry to temples, to engage in sexual intercourse & in some cases to touch family members or belongings within the home. Brahmin hindus may bar women from domestic activities for 4 days. Nepali.

Hindus may keep women away from the household for 3 nights. Balinese women may be barred from entering the kitchen to do chores during her period. it should be noted that in some cultures menstruation is celebrated. How menstruation is looked upon differs among different cultures and religions.
