It can: Food allergies can cause bloating of the stomach but usually the symptoms are hives, itching, vomiting, diarrhea and/or worsening eczema. If symptoms are just bloating, then food intolerance reactions should also be considered. A GI doctor or allergist can help a person distinguish between the two.
