Not sure: You should ask your doctor if he or she thinks that monitoring blood sugar would be helpful. Foot and eye exams should be undertaken upon diagnosis of dm and then at least annually. With annual exams, your eye specialist will be able to stay ahead of the retinopathy. This way you are much less likely to suffer severe visual loss. With few exceptions, foot and eye exams should be annual for dm.
