Not antidepressant: Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine in the Benadryl (diphenhydramine) class. It is used primarily to treat itchiness, and occasionally for sedation. It is not an antidepressant. It can be amnesic, causing memory problems or forgetfulness and dullness of thinking. Please check with your doctor to be sure you are correct in taking it for depression, and report its lack of effectiveness.
