Pregnancy test.: If she's having sex have her check a pregnancy test. The other more common cause would be she didn't ovulate (produce an egg) the last couple of cycles and she's having breakthrough bleeding now. She should see a gynecologist fairly soon, because if its the later she may end up with a terribly long heavy period soon.
