"Normal period": Many women with an ectopic pregnancy think they have had a "normal period" but it was lighter, or shorter in duration than normal. Sometimes the home pregnancy tests are questionable and not positive early on. A ob-gyn md can clarify early ectopic pregnancies with blood pregnancy tests and ultrasound exams.

Are you pregnant?: The first step is to determine if you are pregnant. If you've done a home pregnancy test and it's positive then it's time to see your doctor. A tubal pregnancy is diagnosed by ultrasound.
