A member asked:

I have hidradenitis supprativa and what is the best way to explain to a doctor a condition they know nothing about, and to get them to understand.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Their responsibility: You should not have to explain these things to your doctor. Part of practicing medicine is continuing education, and a competent physician faced with a clinical condition with which they are unfamiliar has an ongoing responsibility to learn about that illness and make it part of their intellectual armamentarium. You can always provide them with articles if you choose. Or choose another doctor.
