Allergy: This event occurs mostly due to acute allergic swelling or severe asthma. This is not very common but some are susceptible and are advised to carry with them Adrenalin shots to counteract this frightening occurrence. It can also occur with throat swelling from certain focal infections - again not very common and usually with plenty of warning.
