A member asked:

I know accutane is effective for acne but what exactly does it do to your skin? make it smoother? less rough? since its shedding dead skin cells often

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Shrinks oil glands: Accutane has multiple effects on the skin including shedding and thinning of the top layer of the skin known as the stratum corneum. This makes pores less likely to clog. It also reduces oil production and eventually shrinks the oil glands so acne breakouts are less frequent and smaller.
