Addison's uncommon: Addison's disease, or chronic primary adrenal gland insufficiency, is uncommon in the US. The typical causes are either autoimmune, metastatic tumors, infections (such as tuberculosis) or bleeding injury of the adrenal glands. Many decades ago, when tuberculosis was more common in the US, there were relatively more cases of this infection causing Addison's.
