Many causes!: Tailbone pain is called coccydynia! there are many causes: trauma; inflammation where the coccyx attaches to the sacrum, as in spondylitis; infection (rare); periostitis, etc. You need to see someone knowledgeable about this type of pain. It can be a doc from several specialties. Good luck!
