A member asked:

What is the normal action of the hormone in hyperthyroidism?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thyroid hormone: Thyroid hormone (t3 (liothyronine) and t4) enters the nucleus of cells & changes how often certain genes are used as a template to make proteins. Very simplistically, thyroid hormone controls how fast your body converts food energy into heat energy. Too little - sluggish & cold; too much - wiped out & hot.
