Ablation: Hysterectomy can definitively stop the period and getting pregnancy. A less invasive surgery is to perform the essure tubal sterilization that is done through a thin telescope into the uterus (hysteroscope.) at the same procedure, the lining of the uterus can be removed to stop or lessen the period (endometrial ablation.) the result is not as complete as hysterectomy but very good.
