Yes, if....: If you just take metoprolol for high blood pressure, vigorous exercise is safe. The medication will blunt your peak heart rate and may make it difficult for your to reach a predetermined target heart rate but you'll still get the benefits. If you take metoprolol for other reasons (eg, following a heart attack or for angina), you should discuss the specifics with your own doctor.
