If the esophagus has: Developed a stricture, either due to reflux, radiation or surgery then rubber or balloon dilators can be used during an egd to dilate the lumen. Its done under fluoroscopy to be safe. At times it may requre repeat procedures depending on the response and the severity of the disease.
