Rare: Some causes of peripheral neuropathy affect the nerves to the muscles for breathing, or to the heart. However most neuropathies are uncomforable, but not lethal.

Not Generally: Peripheral neuropathies are one of the most painful conditions. Fortunately, with the proper mediciations they can be successfullly treated. Polynueuropathies can involve many other systems such as the heart, the lung and GI tract which can cause more serious complications. The suffering from peripheral neuropathy can lead to derpression and if severe enough suicide.
