Weakness: Most muscular dystrophies are inherited defects in the growth and development of the muscular system. Weakness is prominent especially in the lower extremities but as the disease becomes more generalized the sufferer becomes wheelchair bound and eventually usually will succomb to respiratory infection. Medical assistance is available but these are progressive, chronic diseases.
