A member asked:

I have oral thrush and my baby does not have oral thrush; can i still give her my breastmilk; will it transfer through my breastmilk to her?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely breast: Oral thrush cannot transfer through to your baby, so you are fine there. Many women with oral thrush, however, develop yeast elsewhere, so be attentive to your nipples/areolas. If they are tender, cracked or bleeding may also have yeast there. If so, use the same medicine if you are on the liquid med for your thrush and paint your nipples with it. This is safe to do as you continue breast feeding!
