Insomnia: If you have taken Ambien (zolpidem) for long. You probably taper it slowly. If you were taking 10 mg, you can take 5 mg for 4 weeks then taper down to 2.5 mg for a month and then stop. You can take otc meds which are non habit forming. You can observe sleep hygiene which has shown to help with sleep. You can get the information from american sleep society.

GRADUALLY: You can take 1/2 each night for 10 days, then 1/4 each night for another 10 days. Then every other night for 10 days. If you have trouble with this, you need to learn how to go to sleep and work out any anxieties that keep you awake. Really. This may invove going to a mental health expert, even though things must be better tthan 2 years ago or you wouldn't be trying to stop. Therapist?
