Don't ignore it: If you've had any recent workouts or trauma it could be a muscular source of pain. Damage to ligaments or tendons could also cause some discomfort that worsens with weight-bearing. Rest, heat or ice, over-the-counter pain control medications, or compression dressings (an ace bandage) are things that could be tried. If the symptoms do not improve in 3 to 5 days x-rays should be considered by your doctor.
