Probably : If your hemoglobin and hematocrit levels are high enough to donate, trait is not a diagnosis that they exclude. You must meet age, weight and other basic requirements too. Yes: As long as you meet the donor requirements for donation, then having beta-thalassemia is not a criterion for exclusion. However, females with beta-thalassemia trait rarely meet the donor criterion of hemoglobin of 12 gm/dl and are frequently deferred.
