A member asked:

Can you take a low dosage of 5mg of prednisone for long periods of time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: For some autoimmune diseases, a patient may stay on that dose or less if he or she was unable to wean off it. However; long term Prednisone does carry a risk of adrenal insufficiency, osteoporosis and other complications though the risk is lower with a dose of 5mg or less compared to higher doses. Talk to your doctor about your options.
