A member asked:

I have a stent with a string. due to kidney stones. i have to have it for two weeks. is it possible to accidentally pull it out?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ureteral Stents: Ureteral stents are placed after kidney stone removal if there is concern for swelling in the ureter (kidney tube) blocking the tube just like the stone did. However, it is not typical to leave a stent for two weeks after stone surgery; as to the string, that's usually left on for stents that are to be removed in 3-5 days. They can get dislodged so be careful. Contact your urologist if it does.
