Stents and pain: Stents aren't always uncomfortable. They come in different lengths and diameters. Even when properly sized and placed, some patients have pain. Most experience urinary frequency, urgency or blood in the urine until the stent is removed. Others have absolutely no discomfort. There are a few patients who have kidney stone type pain (colic) with a stent in. It's not common.
