In march my labs showed my vitamind below 40, dr prescribed 50000ui, and i went back 6wks later &my levels were normal, why was it low in the first place?

Vitamin D deficiency: Having low vitamin d is not uncommon, even in this country. There is not natural vitamin d in foods, we have to make it through sun exposure or eat foods that are fortified with vitamin d (like milk is). As we spend more time indoors, and through winter months when there is less sun exposure, your levels can drop. More foods are now fortified with vitamin d, so look for these, or take a vitamin.
