Probably not: If your son has no loss of consciousness, nausea and vomiting, and maintains normal happy self, then probably not necessary. If have above symptoms need to consult physician and probably imaging of brain. Soft tissue swelling along frontal regions is usually hematoma that eventually resolves.

Soft tissue swelling: Your child has soft tissue swelling secondary to his trauma. As long as he is alert and not sleepy, hasnt vomited or passed out, i would monitor him for symptoms. In the meantime you can apply cold compresses to his forehead.
