While sitting for a prolonged period can increase risk of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) due to blood that is not moving quickly, the majority of these people do not develop a DVT. So hopefully that will help put your mind at ease. walking and exercising your leg muscles, should help keep the blood moving. If you do notice swelling (edema) developing in one or both legs, go to E.R. to be evaluated.
