Autoimmune : Lupus is an autoimmune condition in which antibodies are made against your own body. Sun can trigger a flareup of rashes associated with lupus. Pmle on the otherhand is a variable rash on sun exposed areas such as the arms and chest that occurs early in the sunny season of the year. This does not have autoantibodies associated with it. These can be distinguished via blood work and a skin biopsy.
