Dialysis and BP: Your brother sounds acutely ill. He is on 6 medications, is his BP controlled? I would assume not. The fact that he is edema is his legs is the reason that his physicians want to have him start dialysis. Did they mention his renal function. Perhaps he has renal failure, due to poorly controlled bp, and he needs to start dialysis for that. Ask his doctors why his BP is not controlled on 6 meds.

No.: Dialysis is typically for kidney failure rather than high blood pressure. Many people with kidney failure have high blood pressure. His kidneys must not be working well.
