Foreign material: The most likely cause of a discharge in a 5 yo female is some retained foreign material in the entrance to the vagina.This can be toilet tissue, fecal matter, or other debris. Possibility of retained bathwater, bubble bath salts, etc.External manipulation of the genitals by the child or an abuser must also considered.
