Yes: Some of the medications that can be used in epidural and spinal anesthesia can cause itching in some patients. This is not hard to treat though. There are several medications that can be given for itching if it happens.

Yes: Depending on the medications used. It should resolve shortly after the epidural is stopped. If it continues it may night be related to the epidural.

Yes: But usually these are epidurals that contain a narcotic. Not all epidurals have a narcotic added to the solution being infused thru the catheter. If only a local anesthetic is used then the chance of itching is almost zero.

Yes: In almost all cases, the pain relief is significant enough that the itching is well tolerated. It wears off as the medicines are metabolized/wear off. Can last 24 hrs depending on what you receive. Talk with your anesthesia physician and work out a plan that is right for you.
