Pain: Small fiber polyneuropathy is mostly painful. It does not affect the overall morbidity or mortality.

Specialized....: You need to be seen at a highly specialized center (which i suspect you have, based upon the info you gave). Prognosis is based upon underlying mechanism of disease. Best ask your specialist. Good luck!
