Numbness: It is hard for physicians to sort out signs of a serious condition from just functional symptoms without any significance. In the absence of pain, weakness or any other abnormalities in your examination your symptoms may not be indicative of any serious illness. However the differential diagnosis includes spinal cord demyelinating or compressive conditions. Check with your physician for proper history and physical to determine the proper diagnosis and treatment if necessary hope you feel well soon.

At 23: You could have a small area of inflammation in the spinal cord, inflammation of a nerve in the shoulder area, or even a naturally narrow spinal canal which slightly squeezes the spinal cord when you bend your spine. A neurologist might be able to help sort that out. Best of luck and health!
