Are traditional swaddle blankets or the new velcro wraps better?

Both ok: You want to make sure that it is secure and comfortable for you and the baby. Babies like being held close to mom.

Neither: The use of swaddling should be a temporary & transitional practice.Babies will settle when swaddled after birth because it feels "normal" like the confinement of the womb.Yet we want baby to learn to enjoy the freedom of extra space as soon as possible.By a month, i want baby in a onzie on a firm mattress with no blankets, bumpers or pillows.Too many babies die each year strangled by bedding.
