Geographic Tongue: It is completely benign. Many people have it (erythema migrans) for a long time without ever knowing it. Some people note it is sometimes more active than others but it almost always looks different daily which is why we call it what we call it erythema=red migrans=moves so the redness moves around on the tongue. It also looks like a map! it does not go away but is nothing to worry about.

Geographic tongue: Geographic tongue is a harmless benign condition that is not linked to any infection or cancer. Two other names for this condition are erythema migrans or benign migratory glossitis. And it appears to be more common in women than in men. It is usually asymptomatic but can cause mild discomfort or burning. Anti-inflammatories such as advil (ibuprofen) are effective. The areas are "maplike" and can move around.
