A member asked:

I woke up and my legs felt like they were asleep, lasted about an hour, then had the same feeling after an afternoon nap. what could be the cause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Compression: When you lie still for a prolonged period, you compress nerves due to gravity. The result is pins and needles feeling (paresthesia) and/or numbness. Nature prevents serious injury by making us shift positions in our sleep. Alcohol, sedatives, and other drugs blunt this protective mechanism and nerve injury with weakness or paralysis can result. If you're drug free, you have no need to worry.
