Benzoyl peroxide: Works better than just about anything. The generic cream or lotion, not the scrubbing pads. Apply after gently clean the face once or twice per day.

Good topical, but...: Clindamycin gel (a topical antibiotic good for skin, if no allergy) is a good one. However, cystic acne is painful, persistent, under the skin, and can cause permanent scarring. So if it is mild and occasional, follow good preventive skin care practices. But i strongly recommend anyone with cystic acne have a regular dermatologist for regular care and rx of cysts, which usually are injected.
