Normal: Perivascular (also known as perivenular or virchow-robin) spaces can be seen at any age and have bizarre or asymmetric configurations. They tend to become more numerous and larger as a person ages, and are benign. The only concern is if they are confused for a cystic space caused by a disease. Knowing where v-r spaces are likely to develop makes it much easier to accurately diagnose them.
