Varied possibilities: These findings suggest several possible entities.Based on this description of biopsy findings diagnoses including connective tissue disease such as lupus erythematosus may be considered, as well as a drug reaction. However, the only way to accurately make a diagnosis is to correlate the biopsy findings with the clinical presentation and other symptoms a patient may be having.

Differential: This is always a challenge to explain but i'll be glad to give it a try. The reaction "pattern" described clues a doctor into creating a list of possible diagnoses. Vacuolar interface dermatitis is probably the key phrase. This type of pattern can be seen in various diseases. Exactly which diagnosis requires thoughtful evaluation of the patient's symptoms to determine the exact diagnosis.

Dermatitis biopsy: I would be concerned about a connective tissue disorder. A lupus band test should be done, defiantly follow up with the doctor that did the biopsy.

Need to see slide: It would not be prudent to render a diagnosis on your description. A pathologist would need to look at the slides form the lesion.
