A member asked:

Really confused: most docs say hsv 1&2 can be detected in blood (igg) in 6-8 weeks. a few say more time is needed. why different answers? what is it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Immune response: Antibodies to hsv take between 4 to 8 weeks to form and become measurable. Depending upon your immune status it may take longer. Different people respond differently to antigenic challenges, which is why vaccines do not always work the same from person to person.
