How serious is septic bursitis in the knee?

Moderate: This is usually treated fairly easily with drainage and antibiotics. It depends somewhat of the specific bursa involved. Some communicate with the knee joint and some do not. I assume you are speaking about the prepatellar bursa which sits on top of the kneecap.

Depends: If untreated it is dangerous. Check with your doctor as to its cause.
